Spring fever. Spring break. Spring forward. These phrases remind Master Stylist Micky Thompson of Parley’s Way that, “If you are not moving ahead, you are falling back.”

Don’t fall back this season. Refresh your style and spirit for spring 2016 with a few of Micky’s tips. And listen closely! After eight years at Lunatic Fringe, a stint on our creative team, and teaching at both LF Cutting School and the Advanced Academy, Micky certainly knows her stuff.

SPRING TREND #1: BLUNT BOB WITH A HEAVY SIDE PART

Make sure to ask for lots of texture and thickness. Micky recommends an above-the-shoulder look.

SPRING TREND #2: KEEP IT LONG, ADD SHORT LAYERS

Again, ask for big texture that doesn’t require a lot of tools or styling to achieve.

FEELING TIMID, but still looking for change? Micky suggests softening existent colors and avoiding stark variation in hues. “For some time now, color has been so dimensional. Now, it is leaning towards softer dimensions. The lived-in, rooted look is still in, but now it is softer and easier.”

FEELING BRAVE? Keep a few things in mind for big transitions, like your lifestyle and fashion preferences.  Micky knows that “fashion does dictate hair, and both are tied to our attitudes.”

Is your attitude screaming for reinvention? Then you just might be ready for that drastic chop, a shift from dark blonde to platinum, or from dark to soft and light.

If you are one of those brave, restless types, you’re certainly not alone. “In my career as a stylist, never have I seen a greater amount of springtime change than I have this year!” says Micky.

But she’s not complaining. One of her favorite parts of styling is helping guests reinvent themselves; their reactions are, “like a breath of fresh air.”  Here are a few of her recent guests’ style transformations:
